BIG JOHN FISHING MAGNETS
Big John Fishing Magnets were introduced into South Africa in 2019. What started out as a passion for Metal Detecting as early as 2008, the Big John range of Metal Detecting Accessories was developed. This later expanded to include Big John Fishing Magnets.
Magnet fishing is still a relatively new hobby in South Africa. It has taken off in recent months especially amongst the Metal Detecting community.
This popular hobby is especially big in the UK and USA where they have many ancient canals and rivers with a lot of history. Magnet Fishing enthusiasts are regularly pulling out old war relics including unexploded bombs, guns, knives and even a few motorbikes!
WHAT IS MAGNET FISHING
Similar to metal detecting where objects are found on land using a metal detector, magnet fishing is about finding metal objects in bodies of water using strong magnets tied to the end of a rope.
Best Magnets For Magnet Fishing
Neodymium magnets have the strongest pulling force for their size. Neodymium magnets are rare-earth magnets and are considered to be one of the strongest magnets available.
Best Places To Magnet Fish
Lakes, rivers, swamps, ponds, creeks, dams, canals, sewers and harbours. Places where people frequently visit, walk along, fish, boat and swim. Try fishing in less visited areas which may yield interesting metal finds that have been laying undisturbed for a long time.
